Montana native, Chas Elliott, began his musical training in the piano studio of Doris Luebeck in Helena. By the age of twelve he was accompanying ensembles and church services and few years later playing for theatrical productions and ballet classes. Chas received training in the theatre arts at Concordia College (Moorhead, MN) and Carroll College (Helena) before relocating to San Francisco to work as a pianist for the San Francisco Ballet and Marin County Ballet.
While working in the Bay Area, Chas met and began vocal training with the mezzo-soprano, Dolora Zajick. He acquired his vocal technique from Ms. Zajick and her teacher, Ted Puffer in Reno, NV. Chas was a member of the Nevada Opera Studio for five seasons. Chas continued his vocal training with Stephen Kalm in Missoula, MT and with Monica Harte in NYC.
From 1990 to 2010 Chas worked in New York City, Seattle, and Montana as a performer, musical director, educator, and pianist. He made his solo debuts at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center and performed with theatres throughout the US. In 2010 he made Berlin, Germany his home base where he founded Amici Arts Ltd., a production company devoted to bringing American music to European audiences.
In August 2019, Chas will return to Montana to build the Music Theatre Project (North America).
